When running UNICA.exe on certain machines we get the following error. Any ideas what this could be?

Product: Installation -- Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.  Custom action SMSI_MSI_INSTALLSTATE_CHECK_157 script error -2146828283, Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Invalid procedure call or argument Line 367, Column 2,

This has run on 600+ machines and had a failure on about 60 machines.  Not sure what is causing this. We can run the MSI manually / or without UNICA and it works fine. Nothing else is logged.

What UNICA does is, look in the registry at the uninstall information for products released by Citrix.

When it finds one, it fires the uninstall string that is also listed in the registry for that product.

Probally when you fire these uninstall strings manually, you will recieve the same error. Corrupt installations are most likely to cause this.

We did some big projects with UNICA ourselfs, and we found that about 10 percent failed for various reasons:

-full C drives

-corrupt windows installers

-half finished office installations that ask for a network installation path that no longer exists

-corrupt ICA client installations, files are gone but not properly uninstalled

Conclusion is that these errors are caused by these points above, and there is no way to prevent that with UNICA. For example, when the harddrive is full, there is nothing UNICA can do about it. These are manual actions, and most of the time the workstation simpely needs to be reinstalled.

So when you fire the MSI manually, not all the previos installations of ICA clients are properly removed, and the new client is installed.

What we have found is that when we upgrade the "8.x" install up to "9.x" then run the process with Unica that everything works like it is supposed to. It seems that Unica is having issues with the "8.x" uninstall.

Launching Manually does not work either. Unica flashes by and does not run.  This is the output in the log file

What does "6/9/2009 11:22:55 AM XenAppHosted.msi: False" mean?

Read  the previous post!

:False mean that the command didn't succesfully finished!, so the error occurs there.
