Hi,

Just a few wishes for new versions.

- Refresh of selected applications instead of having to do a complete refresh (which in my case takes around 12-15minutes)

- Window resize – to be able to see more applications in the window

- A configuration option to make PAU load the contents from a cached file instead of loading directly from farms. To be able to do that also save a cache-file (or small database) when quitting PAU.

- Make a copy of selected applications. Just to the same application folder but without copying the userlist.

- Instead of having to select a group when adding users it should be possible to simply enter a domain\groupname. I have my administrative account in one domain and the groups to add to applications in other domains making it impossible to use PAU for that.

Best regards and thank you for a fine tool

HBHaug, thanks for your feedback!

-refresh/cache,

Wow,

You must have a hudge farm!, Imagine, PAU also scanned every server for version and installed components, I've allready removed that because it was getting to slow.

Cache, Really dont agree on such an option, things could get corrupted easely!, I could have a look at how to make things a little more faster, but it's really not my program that takes the most times, its really the slowness of the datastore...

Maybe its an option for you to have PAU run on a computer close to the data store! (Let me know if that speeds things up)

-Windwos resize, can't think of a reason why not... sounds good! I havent build that in because I gave priority to functionality.

-Adding users with PAU. Allthou I have needed that in the past myself, I really thought this one over very carefully, and I've came to the conclusion that its really not a good idea to have users with your application. It's allways better to give a group access to a application and add the users to the group. I suggest you do the same, make your administrative account in the one domain member of a group in the other domain, and add that group to your application!

Adding users was in older versions of PAU, but I removed it. Maybe if public protest grows I'll add it again ;)

About typing a group, you could do a search. You really have to check every group that you add to a application, adding one invalid account could mess up things...

I'm glad you like it!

Yes, it's a quite big farm :-)

-Cache

If you don't like the cache idea then what about an option to only load the applicationnames from the farm and then make it possible to select an application and only load details on that.

The PAU can't get much closer to the farm/datastore (which is on well performing SQL-cluster).

-Adding users

I know it's a bad idea with users on applications but for testing purposes it's much easier.

The whole problem is that I logon to the machine running PAU with a administrative account from another domain than the domain containing the groups with the users. I'm sorry to say, but just adding administrative account to other domains isn't a solution as that has already been done from the beginning. The domain which is shown in the PAU is the one where my logon-account belongs and when using groups from 4 different domains it's not fun if we have to logoff / logon every time we need to add a group from another domain (12-15 minutes startup time)

Search doesn't help me when the groups are in other domains than the administrative account I logon with. It wouldn't be that hard just to make a textbox where it's possible to enter domain\groupname and then add that value to the application (maybe make an option to enable that feature and explain the problems if the user enable it).

I would like to see policies as an option to save/export...

Policies are not part of 'published applications'. But I've had the request a couple more times. Allthou I really think it won't be such a time saver as PAU is now.  How many policies does one have? 10 at most? And creating 10 policies isnt that hard.
