On 23/2/2009 Citrix announced that XenServer is going to be free, even for large production environments. This seems a very logical and necessary step. Necessary because there is many free alternatives, ESXi for example. On the one hand Citrix suggest it would be without limitations. But in the same article Citrix points out that Citrix Essentials has to be bought for additional functionality. I suggest a roundup at the beginning of April!, accourding to Citrix.com: ‘The new free Citrix XenServer release will be available for download from the Citrix website and other download portals by the end of March 2009’. I know I’m gonna have a look, and see if I can say goodbye to my ESXi server!

Cleaning up your Citrix server can be a time consuming task. Loggin on to every individual server takes a large amount of time.

This is why Gourami created ‘Farm Cleaner’, you first make a selection of the Citrix server that needs to be cleaned. You proceed to clean the profile folder (‘documentsand settings’), the printer spool folder, and the temp folder. Once this is done you get an overview of the actions taken.
Farm Cleaner is in beta and free till May 2009. More information about Farm Cleaner!
FASe stands for Farm Administration Suite. And is a collection of tools that eases the managing, migrating, documenting and
designing of Citrix XenApp farms. Download a free trial, to see if FASe can help you manage your Citrix farm.
Gourami is selling Published Applications Utility since April this year, and has become a great success. Such a success that the Gourami team was eager to create new tools. Many of these new tools were made by customer request.
All these new tools are now bundled in FASe. The Gourami team has decided not to raise the price for our tooling. Our mission is to create software that really helps people along, not bare-profit. We prefer to have many people utilizing our software, than asking a few people to pay a large amount of money.
Therefore the price of FASe is still 100, -- for a farm license, which really is a fair deal considering the tools you get:
-Published Applications Utility
-Farm Reporter
-Farm Documentor
-Farm Monitor
-Policy Tools
-TSPE
People who previously bought a Published Applications Utility license, can, of course, use FASe without upgrading fees. The licensing model for FASe is the same as PAU. You buy one farm license for a specific Citrix version for 100, -- euro.
The Gourami team is already working on a new tool to include with FASe and XenApp 5.0 compatibility. So stay tuned.

Gourami is proud to announce that our flagship product receives ‘Citrix Ready’ status. As for now many companies already
benefit from the Published Applications Utility unique abilities to manage large Citrix farms. And with the ‘Citrix ready’ status we hope we can help more Citrix administrators worldwide to manage their Citrix farms.
The Citrix ready status for Published Applications Utility applies to XenApp versions 4.0 and 4.5, as we all know XenApp is the new name for Presentation Server. In the laboratory Gourami conducted some successful tests while running Published Applications Utility on XenApp 5.0 (code name Delaware). We expect to release a Published Applications Utility for XenApp 5.0 soon after its official release from Citrix.
On the short term we expect some changes for Gourami Software. Some of the build in features of Published Applications Utility will move to separate products. And a new product is about to roll off the conveyor belt. This will provide Citrix administrators with a complete suite of tools needed to manage, document and monitor your XenApp farm and servers.
Stay tuned…
Gourami is having a birthday party; it was one year ago that version 1.0 of Published Applications Utility was presented to the public. Beta versions were available since May 2007. During this year our software was downloaded well over 7000 times, far beyond our wildest estimations. Gourami wants to thank all people in the server based computing scene who give this new product so much positive attention. Especially Douglas Brown who is personally to blame for almost half of the visits to Gourami’s website. Keep an eye on our website, there is going to be a few big positive changes for Gourami in the near future!
Delaware Release Preview has been released to web. Download the bits, documentation and the license file to kick off your evaluation of XenApp on Windows Server 2008. This will help with your Windows Server 2008 migration plans when we release the final build. Nearly 2000 customers and partners have registered for it and have been anxiously waiting.
